Thank you to the organization No Place Like Home and to it's star Volunteer Kate! Our recent family trip to Maine to celebrate my mother's 96th birthday was made even more enjoyable because of your services. There were 10 of us representing 5 states and 4 generations that haven't been together in one place for a year. We were so excited to celebrate my mother's birthday and to enjoy the sites of Maine. While my mother is mobile and active, walking more than a few feet is tiring. I found your organization on the internet. I called, spoke with Kate and made arrangements. I couldn't believe that this service was available. Kate went over and above expectations being helpful and friendly. She delivered the wheel chair to our hotel, showed us how to operate the chair and was there waiting for us to return it a week later. Without the use of the wheel chair my mother would not have been able to enjoy Marginal Way, Kennebunk Beach or having one of her Great Grandchildren push her while visiting Perkins Cove. All made possible because of the good things your organization does. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Vicki, how grateful I am to you and NPLH for all the transportation to and from Cardiac Rehab. You organized every ride, the day, the date, and time. And if that wasn’t enough, U made that wonderful spreadsheet that made it so easy for me to keep track. Please give my sincere thanks to all AND for taking me to Walmart and Hannaford! U guys are wonderful! I love U all!

IMPACT DATA:
In 2021, NPLH continued to make a significant contribution to meeting the needs of our aging community by taking on the additional role of managing the Medical Equipment Loan Closet. Additionally, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary closure of The Center’s medical transportation program, NPLH expanded its services to provide rides to medical and vaccination appointments.
In 2023, the Town of Kennebunk piloted the Kennector program, which provided rides for a small fee to residents unable to drive. NPLH supported this initiative and, as a result, saw a decrease in rides compared to our peak in 2021. NPLH continues to offer rides as a backup resource and partners with residents who need guidance enrolling in the Kennector program.
In 2024, NPLH focused its efforts on the Medical Equipment Loan Closet, small home repairs, and providing rides to new and returning users unfamiliar with Kennector. We continued to support the Kennector program through referrals and by offering enrollment assistance to residents as needed.
In 2025, NPLH discontinued providing rides to new users, despite the closure of the Kennector transportation program. Our small cadre of drivers was not equipped to meet the anticipated increase in demand. However, we continued to serve our regular riders.
As we look ahead, we are exploring new ways for our volunteers to meet the evolving needs of older adults in our community.
